Aerbio announces the appointment of Morten Helveg Petersen, Former member of European Parliament, to advisory board

September 24, 2024 – Copenhagen

Today we’re proud to announce that Morten Helveg Petersen will join our advisory board. A passionate advocate for sustainability, Morten Helveg’s recent decade-long tenure as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) showcases his ability to understand and guide policy around issues related to critical issues, particularly the energy transition. His extensive expertise in green energy and technology policy will support the company’s efforts to revolutionise European food security and tackle global sustainability challenges by converting carbon dioxide and renewable energy into protein.

Advocating for synergies between food security and the energy transition

As an advisor to the company’s board of directors and management team, Morten Helveg will play a crucial role in guiding the company’s strategic growth and public policy engagement. With the world facing increasing food security challenges due to climate change, his experience in both the European Parliament and his work on energy transition and sustainability will be invaluable in supporting Aerbio’s mission.

“Aerbio’s mission is clear and essential, use carbon dioxide and renewable energy to make our food system more sustainable and more secure.” stated Morten Helveg, “Europe’s reliance on imported protein is a topic that is not widely discussed, but fundamentally underpins food security. Having spent the last ten years of my career successfully advocating for clean and stable energy production in Europe, I see many parallels and synergies with Aerbio’s technology. The energy transition provides not just an opportunity to decarbonise our energy system, but to use the large volumes of renewable energy being brought onto the grid to meet Europe’s protein demand. I look forward to contributing to the company’s growth and its positive impact on global sustainability.”

Statement from Kaspar Kristiansen, Aerbio’s CEO

“We are privileged to welcome Morten to our advisory board,” said Kaspar Kristiansen, Aerbio’s CEO. “His extensive knowledge of the European energy landscape, combined with his passion for sustainability, makes him the perfect partner to help guide our efforts in scaling up our renewable protein production. Together, we aim to make a lasting impact on global food security and climate resilience.”
